This week we celebrate color!

I would consider myself someone who celebrates color in its most minimal state. I prefer muted washes with little slight variations in tone.

Boring, right?

If you were to visit my closet you would find that it matches the rest of my home- washes of gray, white, black and brown with bright bursts of color found in extreme moderation. However, if you are able to look past the obvious monotone scheme, you will discover that, in fact, there is much excitement and color to be found in even the most muted of palettes.

Tell me, are your whites cream or peach?

Are your browns yellow or green?

Are your greys steel or blue?

I think if we all look hard enough, we will find color exists in even the most colorless worlds!

The hot topic this week is food.  I guess it could also be a cold topic, sweet topic or side topic.  Either way, it’s always a popular one… and something we ALL think about from day-to-day and meal to meal.  From cereal to turkey (or tofurkey) on Thanksgiving, we each have our own relationship with what goes on our tables and into our bodies.

Leave us a comment with your favorite food..  French fries top my list!

And stay tuned for a week of shared recipes, stories and goodies.  You may or may not want to come hungry.

Today’s recipe worth trying:

Frozen Lemonade Pie

Ingredients

Graham Cracker Crust:

  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 7 tablespoons butter, melted
  •

Lemonade Filling:

  • One 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk, chilled
  • One 12-ounce container whipped topping, thawed
  • One 6-fluid-ounce can frozen lemonade concentrate, unthawed
  •
  • 1 teaspoon candied lemon peel, for garnish

Directions

For the crust: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

In medium bowl, stir together the cracker crumbs, sugar and the melted butter until combined and resembles a wet sand mixture. Pour into a pie plate and press the mixture firmly along the bottom and sides. Bake for 7 to 8 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool completely.

For the filling: In a large bowl, add the sweetened condensed milk and whipped topping. Fold the two together gently until combined, being careful to keep the mixture light and fluffy. Add the lemonade concentrate and continue to gently fold. Be sure to avoid letting the mixture get too liquid-y. Pour the filling into the pie crust. Place in the freezer to chill overnight.

Bon Appetit!

music

music

My favorite channel on SiriusXM is 90s on 9.  Not that I believe this it the most impressive music out there, but because this is the music I grew up with in my teenage years.  It was there for me while I was going through those growing pains of figuring out who I was and who I wanted to be when I grew up.  Love songs to smile to when thinking of a crush and love songs to cry to through a break up.  The best thing was blaring the radio in your car full of friends and belting out the words to your favorite tunes.  I won’t embarrass myself and tell you who my favorite bands were, but I will confess that just the other day I was singing Wilson Phillips at the top of my lungs.  “Hold on for one more day…”

Where would we be without music?  How could life exist without music?  Talk about BORING.  I love this quote below.  It really sums up what music is…

“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” – Plato
