I bet you have run into this problem before – painting a room in your house, choosing a wedding color scheme, designing a logo – heck, even deciding what outfit to wear. Sometimes it’s an easy decision, and sometimes not so much.
As a graphic designer, I run into this dilemma all of the time. It is always best to think about the meaning of your project and what message you are trying to send. Below are some tools and tips to help!
Useful Tools For Choosing The Right Color:
Color Scheme Designer – A designer tool for creating color combinations that work together well. Really simple to use.
COLOURlovers – A creative community where people from around the world create and share colors, palettes and patterns, discuss the latest trends and explore colorful articles. All things color!
Color Blender – Generates a six color blend based on the color you choose. From there you can tweak each individual color. Quickly find a great color combo.
I love my job, but if I wasn’t a graphic designer I would want to be the person that got to choose the names of Crayola Crayons. How fun!
Did you create this color chart? I would like to include it for an article I am writing. Please let me know if that is possible and how to credit it! Thanks.
Yes, we did create it. Feel free to use it and you can credit “Sunny Slide Up” 🙂
Hi! I saw this come up on Pinterest. This color chart is a great example for my students to use in an exercise where I teach. I would like to have students recreate the color chart in our web development class with HTML & CSS code. They would also provide attribution to you and link back to your site (part of the class is big on attribution 🙂 . I see it’s ok above, but just wanted to confirm for my specific inquiry.
Yes, that is totally fine! Thanks for checking!
