I bet you are hungry now after reading the name of this post, huh? These are AMAZING! I found this recipe a month or so ago on Pinterest from What’s Gaby Cooking and have made them three times already. I have been doing the low-carb thing, so they are great even without a bun!
Cheddar Jalapeño Chicken Burgers with Guacamole
- 1 pounds ground chicken
- 1/2 cup finely chopped yellow onion
- 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh cilantro
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons chopped jalapeño
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese
- kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper
- Add chicken to a bowl and mix in the onion, cilantro, garlic, jalapeño, cumin, paprika, cheddar cheese, salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
- Form the mixture into four 1/2″-thick patties. Grill burgers over medium heat until cooked through, 5-7 minutes per side.
- Serve each patty in a burger bun topped with guacamole.
Super easy right? And oh, so delicious! It was raining outside for this round, so we used the good ol’ George Forman Grill. And I was short on time, so I used some Wholly Guacamole and added chopped tomatoes.
Hope you enjoy!
Hey there! How I’m the first person to comment on these burgers I don’t know! These were amazing! More people should make them! 😉 Seriously they were full flavored, moist and there were no leftovers! We made them last night and I shared your blog link with my followers on my blog too : http://lostsentiments.blogspot.com/2013/09/homemade-salsa-chicken-sittin-in-crock.html Because again.. more people must know about this recipe! Mom would be proud we’re getting our protein *and* veggies to boot in a burger! ;)Thank you Heather! Best, Dawn
Hi Dawn – So glad you enjoyed them!
Can I bake the chicken burgers in the oven? if so, how long?
Hi Laura! I am sure you can. While we haven’t tried this, I would give it 15-20 minutes at 350-375 and see how it is. I would suggest to over cook rather than under… No one needs raw chicken in their life! Let us know how it turned out!
Omg we LOVE this in our house. How do people not know about this. We used ground turkey instead of chicken just because the store was out. But holy cow these are scrumptious! !!
So glad you enjoyed them Jada. I bet they were delicious with the turkey meat too!
These are very yummy…needs just a little salt, so next time I will salt the patties on both sides before cooking and I might leave seeds in jalapeños for an extra spicy kick. Otherwise they are delish!
Glad you enjoyed them!
Made these chicken burgers tonight and they are soooooooo gooooooooood! If your reading this you need to make them. Full of flavor. They will be on our menu from now on.
Glad you enjoyed them Fran!
These sound delicious…. Do you need to add breadcrumbs to help hold it together. I usually do in my turkey burgers so just wondered how the consistency was. Thanks!
Hey there. We didn’t, but you could try it! If you do, let us know how it works. I sometimes add an egg as well to help hold my burgers together! I look forward to hearing what works best for you!
Will be making these tomorrow! They have been pinned on my pinterest board for a few weeks and my husband just told me he is craving burgers and I immediately thought about these because he loves spicy food! Will comment tomorrow on how they turnednout
Omg!!!!!!!!! Just made these right now and they are delishhh..seriously so gooood! The cumin flavor is just perfect, not too overpowering. You can taste the cheese in every bite yummy! And the guacamole is like the cherry on top. New favorite burger recipe!
GREAT! Thank you for letting us know and I am so glad you like them!
Hi there,
These look heavenly….are they very spicy with the jalapeños in there? Just wondering if it’s kid friendly, would hate to omit that ingredient! Thank you!
Hey there! The burgers are a tad spicy. You could easily eliminate or reduce the amount of jalapeños and it should be just fine! I know kinds sometimes do not like the spice, so just put as many or as little as you think. I would start with a small amount if any for my family!
These were delicious! Instead of grilling them I baked them at 375 for about 20 minutes flipping them once. Turned out perfect. I topped them with the guacamole and uses large tomato slices for the bun. I will be making these again! Thank you for the recipe!
Glad you enjoyed them Shannon!
These are the best!! We make them all the time. Added some pepper jack cheese. We have also cooked in the skillet. Super good! 💕💕💕
Glad you enjoy them Kathy! We LOVE them too!
What is the points plus value for the burgers?
Not sure, but I found this points plus calculator to help! http://www.healthyweightforum.org/eng/calculators/ww-points-plus/
Do you think these would work if they were frozen to use at a later date?
We haven’t tried freezing, but it may work if you left out the cheese. You could always top with the cheese at a later time – keep us posted!
Can you pan fry these burgers?
Most definitely! We have pan fried them and they turned out PERFECT!!! Let us know what you think!
Oh my word!!! These were AMAZING!!! Thank you for the recipe!!
So glad you loved them!!
