holiday inspiration – tablescapes

The season of giving thanks is upon us. To celebrate, I want to share with you some more lowcountry inspiration for entertaining this holiday season. We live in Charleston, SC which is home to many creative transplants from around the globe.

Last week I shared holiday mocktails to spice up the festivus season. This week, I want to share with you holiday tablescapes as we all prepare for Thanksgiving. As I shared last week, some of Charleston top creatives gathered at the Out of Hand Warehouse to share tips and inspiration for holiday entertaining. The event even had a hashtag #oohwhatafind if you want to look at other inspiration shots.

hosting my first thanksgiving

hosting my first thanksgiving

I am so excited to be hosting Thanksgiving this year for the first time ever for my husband and I’s families!  We just moved into our new house last December, so this is the first November in our house.  We were so rushed to even get a Christmas tree up last year, so we are really looking forward to the holidays this year now that we are settled.

For our big Thanksgiving feast, I have been racking my brain (ok, I have been digging through Pinterest) to find the perfect decor, appetizers, place settings, etc. I haven’t quite decided what to do yet, but I wanted to share with you some of the great ideas I have come across.

We have the food down pat.  Our favorite casseroles will be lined up alongside the turkey.  YUM…I can hardly wait!  To spice things up this year, I’m thinking of making some Apple Cider Sangria – doesn’t that sound amazing?  Recipe HERE.

The time has come – we are having our engagement photos taken next week!  I chose the amazing Crystal Stokes to do my photography.  I can not quit looking at her work and can not wait to see the pictures we take!  For my engagement shot, I am having Erin Ashley do my make up… look at a picture these two amazing women worked on together for the Carolina Bride Magazine… I told you – I can’t wait!

Sadly these women are not with me every day, so I have to do the best I can for myself!  I have a few blogs that I have follow that help with make up techniques and easy ways to do your hair!

Maskcara – this girl has amazing ideas and techniques!  She also gives you reviews on products that she has tried and suggests.  It is a great resource!  One things she does from time to time is before and afters – check this one out!

Secondly, always look forward to a post from The Small Things Blog – she is such a real girl with practical ideas on makeup and hair.  When doing my hair for weddings or special events, I always check out her hair tutorials!  Maybe I will do this one for a wedding we are going to this weekend… I wonder how it will look with curly hair?
