Good morning and let me just say… happy birthday to me!!!
I will admit it.. I am one of those girls that LOVES my birthday! I love spending time with family and friends and I love doing something special, even if it is a nice dinner and a cake. I will be honest and say that those people that say – “eh, I don’t care to do anything for my birthday” have to by lying right?. Don’t you think they are DYING for someone to jump out and surprise them with a party!
This weekend we are heading out of town to North Myrtle Beach. I plan to go to Fat Harold’s and do a little shag dancing, maybe get some amazing seafood, go to the Kate Spade outlet hopefully take in some UVs! ah, relaxation!
The Mister and my mom have been asking me what I want for my birthday. This year I know exactly what I need…. RAIN SHOES – or BOOTS!
A few weekends ago The Mister, my family, some friends and his family went to Merle Fest. I LOVE this festival – bluegrass, blues and folk music all outside and tucked in the NC mountains. Every year so far has been perfect…. But this year… it rained. That constant, annoying rain.
This is a snapshot of our Saturday:
I had on tennis shoes, sneakers, tenny’s… Basically it was awful. My shoes, socks, jeans and feet were SOAKED – next time I will be prepared with my rain boots , or rain shoes (I’m still deciding).
Shoes
1. Chooka Yellow Shoes 2. Ugg Rain shoes 3. Hunter rain shoes 4. crocs jellies 5. hunter rain shoes 6. dav rain shoes
Boots
1. Teal Chooka Boots 2. cowboy rain boot 3. red Hunter boots 4. target snake print boots 5. animal print hunter boots
What do you think? Do you have a favorite?
Here are some quotes for a rainy day!

If you have been reading Sunny Slide Up for a while, you will know that The Mister and I have made efforts to be much more healthy this year. We are eating better and exercising more.
Last week we took another step and decided to buy bikes! I have to tell you – we are not even a week in yet and I am LOVING it! You get to feel like a kid again and cover MUCH more ground than you can on foot. Check me out last night!
This is my new SWEET ride (I am sure you will be seeing much more of it in months to come). You can read more about it here!
Now… it is time to accessorize and first things first – I have to protect my head!
helmets: 1. Nutcase Helmet 2. Yakkay Cap 3. Giro Helmet (pricy) 4. Giro Helmet (inexpensive)
Then I felt like I should share these helmets by Good!Creative with you… Can you IMAGINE passing one of these on the street?!?
What do you think? Which helmet would you choose?

Well hey there, Sweetie!
This is what my Granny would say every time that I called her. Every time she was so excited to hear my voice and always wanted to hear what I had going on. It didn’t matter what we talked about. It could be what I was cooking for dinner, what I thought about the “stories” (Young and the Restless), how my work was going, or how that boy was treating me. She always wanted to just talk. I was her sweetie, I was her “Shug” and she was my Granny.
A little over a week ago now, my family had to say goodbye to Granny. It was one of the hardest times in my life and I continue to think of her every day, but knowing that she is no longer suffering somehow brings me a sense of peace.
So, today this post is for her. Some of the sweet things she would say to me that I know I will carry on to future generations.
Thank you for the memories!
